M2Racer LLC Recalls Bicycle Headsets for Fall Hazard

Is my product affected?

Conventional and Integrated Lite Headsets

  • Brand M2Racer LLC, of Burlingame, Calif.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

M2Racer LLC is recalling bicycle headsets due to a fall hazard. The headsets mount to bicycle frames and connect to the front fork assembly. A protruding part of the headset can contact and damage the steering tube of the front fork, weakening its structural integrity. If the front fork breaks, the handlebars can separate from the bicycle during use, causing the rider to crash.

The recalled products include two types of headsets: the Conventional Headset (black anodized alloy housing with stainless steel and polymers, weighing 39 grams) and the Integrated Lite Headset (black polymer housing with lightweight alloys, weighing 29 grams). Consumers should stop riding bicycles with these headsets and check their front fork assembly for scoring damage. M2Racer will refund the purchase price of returned headsets.

Hazard

The headsets mount to bicycle frames and fasten to the front fork assembly. A protruding component of the headset can contact the steering tube of the front fork assembly, score or scratch the steering tube, and weaken the structural integrity of the front fork. The front fork could break, causing the handlebars to separate from the bicycle during use and result in a crash.

What should I do?

Consumers should stop riding bicycles with these headsets and inspect their front fork assembly for scoring damage. M2Racer will refund the purchase price of returned headsets.
