Bear Archery is recalling five models of compound crossbows because their trigger mechanisms are faulty and may fire when the safety is moved from "safe" to "fire" position without the trigger being pulled. This defect could cause arrows to fire unexpectedly and strike bystanders. The recalled models are the Outfitter XB340 (model number AFB8959340), Fred Bear F340 (model number AFB8949350), Fred Bear F325 (model number AFB8949325), Fred Bear F300+ (model number AFB8949301), and Fred Bear F300 (model number AFB8949300). The model name appears on the outside of the bow's bottom limb, and the model number is listed in the product manual.
Consumers who own one of these recalled crossbows should stop using the product immediately and contact Bear Archery for a free trigger replacement.
