Target and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling Pillar Candles With Jewels because the black paint coating on the outside of the candles can ignite, creating a fire hazard. The recalled candles are approximately 3 inches in diameter and available in two heights—3 inches and 6 inches tall. Each candle features eight diamond-like ornaments placed evenly around the candle about 1 inch from the bottom, and they come packaged in clear plastic wrapping tied with a ribbon. The candles are labeled "Distributed by Target Corporation" with either product number 054 09 1533 or 054 09 2528 on the bottom.
According to the recall, consumers should stop using the candles immediately and return them to the nearest Target store. Upon return, consumers will receive a Target GiftCard equal to the value of the returned candle.
