What happened

Target and the CPSC have announced a recall of tea light candles that can burn with a high flame and melt their plastic holders, creating fire and burn hazards. The recalled candles were sold in six scents: Coastal Mist (Blue), Wild Currant (Red), Sandalwood (Brown), Tahitian Vanilla (Ivory), Sonoma Pear (Green), and Jasmine (White). Each candle measures 1½ inches wide by ¾ inch high and comes in a plastic holder. They were sold 12 candles per box, with "Home" and "Tea lights" printed on the top of the box and "Distributed by Target Corporation" along with the scent name on the bottom.

Consumers should stop using the candles immediately and return them to the nearest Target store for a Target GiftCard worth the value of the returned candle plus applicable state tax.

Hazard

The recalled tea light candles were sold in the following six different scents/colors: Coastal Mist (Blue) Wild Currant (Red) Sandalwood (Brown) Tahitian Vanilla (Ivory) Sonoma Pear (Green) Jasmine (White) The tea light candles measure 1 ½ inches wide by ¾ inch high. Each of the candles comes in a plastic holder. They were sold 12 candles to a box. "Home" and "Tea lights" are printed on the top of the box. "Distributed by Target Corporation" and the name of the candle scent are printed on the bottom of the box.
