CPSC, Deere & Company Announce Recall of Compact Utility Tractors

Is my product affected?

John Deere Compact Utility Tractors

  • Brand John Deere, of Moline, Ill.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Deere & Company is recalling certain compact utility tractors (small green tractors with yellow seats and wheels) in specific model and serial number ranges, including 4210 CUT, 4310 CUT, and 4410 CUT models with either Hydrostatic or PowrReverser transmissions. The recalled tractors have steel bolts that secure the Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS) to the tractor's rear axle, and these bolts can shear off during use. If the bolts fail, the ROPS loses strength and becomes less able to protect the operator in the event of a rollover incident.

Consumers who own affected tractors should immediately stop using them. The company is directly notifying purchasers, and affected consumers should contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair to address the bolt issue.

Hazard

Some of the steel bolts used to secure Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS) to the tractor's real axle can shear off, decreasing the strength of the ROPS and its ability to protect the operator, in the event of a roll-over incident.

What should I do?

The company is directly notifying purchasers. Consumers should stop using their tractors immediately and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair.
