  • Brand Vaxcel International Co. Ltd., of Glendale Heights, Ill.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Vaxcel International Co. Ltd. has recalled certain 36-inch dual-motor ceiling fans due to improper wire insulation sleeving that leaves wiring exposed, creating a risk of electrical shock during installation or removal. The recalled fans are down-rod-mount models sold under the brand names "Aire Tek" and "Turn-of-the-Century Apollo Series" in chrome, stone white, brush nickel, polished brass, antique brass, or weathered patina finishes. Model number 355-6645 appears on the box and on a label on the central housing of the fan, along with File Number E215078 and the UL Listing Mark.

Consumers who believe they have a recalled fan should contact Vaxcel to verify their purchase and receive a free replacement ceiling fan. Before checking or removing a fan, consumers should turn off the power source to avoid electrical shock, and using a professional electrician is encouraged. Vaxcel will reimburse consumers up to $75 for charges incurred in removing recalled fans.
