Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. is recalling certain bunk bed models due to gaps between parts that violate federal safety standards and pose entrapment or strangulation hazards to children. The recalled models are B383-58T and B383-57T (sold as "Trails End"), B213-58 (sold as "Cottage Retreat"), and B233-58 (sold as "Stages"). On B383 models, the gap between the end rails on the upper bunk is too large. On B213 and B233 models, the gap between the guardrails of the upper bunk can be widened with pressure.
Consumers who own these bunk beds should stop using them and obtain a free repair kit from their retailer. The repair kit is designed to cover and close the entrapment gaps and can be installed easily at home. Model numbers can be found on product stickers located on the inside of the lower rail on the top bunk end panel for B383 models, or on the inside of the lower panel on the bottom bunk for B213 and B233 models.
