Dynacraft Industries is recalling certain 21-speed mountain bikes due to defective handlebar stems that may not tighten sufficiently to lock onto the bicycles. This defect can cause the front wheel not to turn properly, which may result in serious injuries to riders from falls. The recalled bikes include 24-inch models for girls and boys and 26-inch models for women and men, all bearing the "Great Divide" label on the cross-tubes and "KALLOY" markings on the handlebar stems.
The affected bikes can be identified by model numbers on the left side of the seat post: model 8504-50 (purple girls' bikes), model 8504-51 (blue boys' bikes), model 8547-84 (purple women's bikes), and model 8547-85 (black men's bikes). According to the recall notice, consumers should stop riding these bikes immediately and take them to the Fred Meyer Store where purchased for a free inspection and repair if needed.
