Tectron International Recalls USB Chargers Due to Fire Hazard

What happened

Tectron International is recalling its 3-in-1 USB charging cable (Item No. USB29B) because the charger can overheat while in use, creating a fire hazard. The recalled product is a 10-foot white cord with a USB plug on one end and three different connector plugs on the other end (30-pin, Lightning, and mini USB), designed to charge various iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. The cable is sold in a transparent sealed pouch with the item number printed on an outside label.

Consumers who own this charger should immediately stop using it. According to the recall notice, affected consumers should contact Tectron International to request a mailing label for returning the product, and the company will email the mailing label to customers.

The 3-in-1 USB charging cable is used to charge iPhone4S/4G/3GS/3G, iPhone5, iPad mini/iPad4 and android phones. The 10-foot white cord has a USB plug on one end. The other end has 3 plugs: 30-pin plug for the iPad First Generation and iPhone 4S and earlier models; Lightning plug for the iPhone5 and later models and the iPad 2 and later models; and mini USB plug. The cable comes in a transparent sealed pouch. Item NO. USB29B is printed on label on the outside of the pouch.
