2GIG Technologies is recalling GSM radio modules used inside Go!Control Panels for home security systems because the modules can overheat and catch fire, posing a fire and burn hazard. The Go!Control Panels are white plastic units measuring 6 inches high by 8.5 inches wide, with a color touch screen display on the front along with a speaker and "emergency" and "home" buttons. The recalled GSM radio modules are internal components that enable wireless communication between the home security system and alarm monitoring companies.
2GIG has directed home security companies to contact affected consumers, who will receive a free replacement module that will be professionally installed. If you have not been contacted and want to know if your system contains the recalled module, you should contact your home security company or 2GIG directly. You should not attempt to disconnect or disable the recalled module yourself.
