  • Brand Bosch Security Systems, Inc., of Fairport, N.Y.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Bosch Security Systems Corp. is recalling fire alarm control panels because of two potential failures. When the alarm verification feature is enabled, the panel may fail to sound an alarm if a fire occurs. Additionally, systems with 50 or more reporting stations may experience delays in sounding an alarm or reporting a fire if the alarm loop is broken. The affected panel is a locking red wall box measuring 22.7 inches high by 14.5 inches wide by 4.3 inches deep, with "BOSCH" printed on the right corner and model number "FPA-1000-UL" on the bottom left below the glass screen. The panels with software versions 1.10, 1.11, and 1.12 are affected and were installed in small to medium-sized facilities in both public and residential buildings.

According to the recall, distributors and installers are receiving two technical bulletins to address the hazard. One bulletin provides instructions for implementing a software change to correct the verification feature problem, and the second contains instructions for handling warnings on affected systems with 50 or more stations. The source does not specify what individual consumers should do but states that those who have not received the bulletins should contact Bosch.

What should I do?

All distributors and installers are being sent two technical bulletins. One provides instructions for how to implement a software change that will correct the verification feature.
