Is my product affected?

Snowpulse Avalanche Airbags

  • Brand Snowpulse SA, of Martigny, Switzerland
  • Brand Mammut Sports Group Inc., of Shelburne, Vt.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Snowpulse is recalling avalanche airbags equipped with inflation-system 1.0 air cartridges due to a leak hazard that can prevent the airbag from deploying during an avalanche. The recalled airbags were manufactured between 2008 and 2010, come in sizes between 15 and 45 liters, and bear the Snowpulse logo. These airbags are designed to help keep users above the snow surface during avalanches while skiing, snowmobiling, or mountain climbing. You can identify the cartridge by the pin inside the threaded fitting on the side; if the gauge lacks an "A" or "B" marking on the dial, it is part of the recall.

According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop using the recalled airbags and contact Snowpulse for a replacement cartridge.

Hazard

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled airbags and contact Snowpulse for a replacement cartridge.

Details from the source

This recall involves Snowpulse Avalanche airbags with inflation-system 1.0 air cartridges. The airbags are used for skiing, snowmobiling and mountain climbing to help keep the user above the surface if an avalanche occurs. Model year 2008 to 2010 airbag cartridges are included in this recall. The packs are between 15 and 45 liters and have the "Snowpulse" logo printed on them. The metal cartridge is inside the pack and unscrews from the airbag. Cartridges using inflation system 1.0 gauges can be identified by the pin inside the threaded fitting on the side of the cartridge. If this gauge does not have an "A" or a "B" on the dial then it is included in the recall.
