What happened

Kraft Foods Group, Inc. is recalling approximately 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners because some packages contain Classic Cheese Dogs instead of the labeled Classic Wieners. The mislabeled products were produced on March 2-3, 2014, and distributed nationwide to Kraft distribution centers and retail stores. The products contain milk, which is a known allergen not declared on the label. Affected products are 16 oz. packages of "Classic Wieners Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added" with a "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and product code "044700000632," as well as cases with case code "00447000005300." The problem was discovered when a consumer notified the company on April 18, 2014.

WASHINGTON, April 20, 2014 Kraft Foods Group, Inc., a Columbia, Mo., establishment is recalling approximately 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners because the products may contain Classic Cheese Dogs in the Classic Wieners' packages. The product labels are incorrect, as they do not reflect the ingredients associated with the pasteurized cheese in the cheese dogs, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products were formulated with milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. The products were distributed to Kraft distribution centers and in retail stores nationwide. The problem was discovered by a consumer who notified the company on April 18, 2014. The company contacted the USDA the following day regarding the issue. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
