What happened

George's Inc., a Springdale, Arkansas company, recalled approximately 1.25 million pounds of frozen par-fried chicken tender products in January 2014 because the labels failed to declare wheat as an ingredient, despite wheat being present in the formulation. The affected products include three varieties of George's Uncooked Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins and Chicken Tenderloin Fritters sold in 10-pound cases with specific case codes and packaging dates ranging from February 2013 to January 2014. The products were distributed to wholesale locations for institutional use nationwide and bear establishment number P-13584 under the USDA Mark of Inspection. The company discovered the problem during a routine label review and determined that isolated printer issues had caused some labels to print without selected ingredients; the issue has been corrected.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has received no reports of adverse reactions from consuming these products. The source does not specify a remedy for affected consumers but states that anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider, and consumers with questions about the recall can contact Ali Perry at (479) 927-7256.
