Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling certain 2022 Outlander vehicles because the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) in the right front, second-row right, and second-row left seat belt assemblies may deactivate before the seat belts are fully retracted. This defect can result in a child restraint system not being properly secured, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Owners who received notification letters mailed July 7, 2022 should contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820 to schedule an appointment at an authorized dealer, where the seat belt assemblies will be inspected and replaced at no charge if necessary. The recall is identified as SR-22-002.

The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) in the right front, second-row right, and second-row left seat belt assemblies may deactivate before the seat belts are fully retracted, which can result in an unsecured child restraint system.
