What happened

Certain 2022 Audi E-Tron GT vehicles are being recalled because the center seat belt buckle wiring harness may block access to the right rear seat lower child seat anchors, preventing a child seat from being properly secured. This condition fails to comply with federal safety standards and increases the risk of child injury during a crash.

Dealers will reroute and secure the center rear seat belt buckle wiring harness and replace any damaged buckle at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 15, 2022. Affected owners should contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 (recall number 72M6) to schedule the repair.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022 E-Tron GT vehicles. The center seat belt buckle wiring harness may obstruct access to the right rear seat lower child seat anchors, preventing a child seat from being properly secured. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."
