What happened

Certain 2019-2021 Audi vehicles are being recalled because the rear axle may be misaligned, which can cause premature or uneven tire wear and increase the risk of a crash. The affected models include the A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, RS5, RS6, RS7, RSQ8, SQ5, SQ7, and SQ8. This issue arose because the rear axle alignment may not have been inspected after repairs from a previous recall (21V-295).

Audi dealers will inspect the rear axle, adjust the alignment if necessary, and replace any prematurely or unevenly worn tires at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 3, 2022. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall number 42L5 to arrange the free inspection and service.
