Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Control Modules because the software may prevent the electronic stability control (ESC) malfunction indicator light from illuminating when an ESC problem occurs. When this warning light fails to illuminate, drivers may not be aware of an ESC malfunction, which can increase the risk of a crash.
To remedy this issue, Chrysler dealers will update the software, repurchase, or replace the affected ABS control modules at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Affected consumers should contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number Z25) to schedule service.

The ABS control module software may prevent the electronic stability control (ESC) malfunction indicator light from illuminating during certain conditions. As such, these modules fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."
