What happened

Audi is recalling certain 2019-2021 model year vehicles, including Q7, Q8, Q5, A4, A6, A8, and S-series models. A lock nut on the trailing arm of the rear axle may break due to stress corrosion, which could misalign the rear axle and cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the lock nuts and associated bolts if necessary at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 4, 2021. Owners should contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, and can reference recall number 42L1.

Hazard

What should I do?

Dealers will replace the lock nuts and, if necessary, the associated bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 4, 2021. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 42L1.
