What happened

PACCAR is recalling certain 2022 Kenworth T440, T470, T800, and W900 vehicles because a starter interrupt defect may allow the vehicle to start when the transmission is not in PARK. This condition can cause unintended vehicle movement and increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102 requirements.

PACCAR will notify owners by mail, and dealers will inspect and reconnect the transmission and chassis harness at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 26, 2021. Owners of affected vehicles should contact PACCAR customer service at 1-425-828-5888 or reference recall number 21KWB.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022 Kenworth T440, T470, T800, and W900 vehicles. The starter interrupt may allow the vehicle to start when the transmission is not in PARK. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission shift position sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect."
