What happened

Navistar is recalling certain 2021 International LT, RH, MV, and HV vehicles equipped with Bendix pressure switches due to a defect in the SC-3 single check valve. A retainer may not be properly seated in the valve, which could fail to isolate source air when pressure is applied. This defect creates a risk of unintended spring brake application that could increase the likelihood of a crash.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to confirm whether their vehicle is included in the recall. Dealers will replace the SC-3 check valves at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 28, 2021, and Navistar's reference number for this recall is 21503.
