What happened

Daimler Coaches North America is recalling certain 2018-2019 Setra S407 and 2019-2020 Setra S417TC motorcoaches because their Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system can be disabled by the driver while the vehicle is traveling above 20 km/h. When ESC is disabled at these higher speeds, there is an increased risk of loss of stability control and potential crashes.

To fix this problem, DCNA dealers will replace the "ESC OFF" switch with a new "TC-Off" button, install a dashboard indicator light to show when traction control is deactivated, and perform a software update to prevent the ESC system from being disabled entirely. These repairs will be performed free of charge. Owners should contact DCNA customer service at 1-800-206-9728 to arrange for the recall service.
