Vac-Tron Equipment, LLC is recalling certain Vacuum Excavator trailers from model years 2016-2020, including the CS873GT, CV1273GT, LP1273XDT, CS1270GT, CS1273GT, CS870GT, and CS1273SGT. The rear bumper on these trailers extends too far beyond the trailer frame, which reduces impact protection and fails to meet federal safety standards. In a rear impact crash, another vehicle can travel under the rear of the vacuum excavator, creating a serious risk of injury or death to occupants of the other vehicle.
Vac-Tron will notify owners, and remedy kits will be installed free of charge by Vermeer dealers. The recall began July 14, 2020. Owners of affected trailers should contact Vac-Tron customer service at 1-888-822-8766 and reference recall number VVK0009 to arrange installation of the remedy kit.

Vac-Tron Equipment, LLC (Vac-Tron), a subsidiary of Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer), is recalling certain 2016-2020 CS873GT, CV1273GT, LP1273XDT, CS1270GT, CS1273GT, CS870GT, and CS1273SGT Vacuum Excavator trailers. The rear most extremity extends too far beyond the rear of the trailer frame, reducing impact protection. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 224, "Rear Impact Protection."
