What happened

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with a camera-only Pre-Collision Assist feature. Due to incorrect software coding, the Pre-Collision Assist automatic emergency braking feature is not enabled in these vehicles, and drivers cannot access the menu functions needed to turn it on. Vehicles equipped with the optional radar-plus-camera Pre-Collision Assist system are not affected by this recall.

If an affected consumer relies on the Pre-Collision Assist system thinking it is working when it is actually disabled, they face an increased risk of crash or injury. To remedy this issue, Ford will notify owners and dealers will reprogram software for multiple vehicle modules and reset the tire pressure monitor system at no charge. The recall began May 26, 2020. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to arrange service, and can reference Ford recall number 20S20.
