What happened

Maxon Lift Corp. is recalling certain GPTLR and GPTWR Lift Gates equipped with License Plate Kit part number 298872-01 containing Light part number 908120-01. The license plate light in these kits may aim rearward toward other drivers instead of illuminating the license plate, which violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108. This misalignment could increase the risk of a crash.

To address this issue, Maxon will contact the vehicle manufacturers who may have used the recalled license plate kit and will provide a corrective kit at no charge if needed. Maxon Lift Corp. (Maxon) is recalling certain GPTLR and GPTWR Lift Gates that contain License Plate Kit part number 298872-01 that includes Light part number 908120-01. If installed, the license plate light may aim rearward and not towards the license plate. As such, this equipment fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
