What happened

Navistar is recalling certain 2019-2020 International MV and HV, 2018-2020 Workstar, and 2018-2019 Durastar vehicles equipped with feature codes 12VXT and 12VXU. These vehicles have an engine defect where engaging the stationary PTO switch while the parking brake is applied and the automatic transmission is in Drive or Reverse can cause the engine RPM to increase and potentially overcome the parking brake, creating a risk of unintended vehicle movement and crashes.

To remedy the issue, Navistar dealers will update the Engine Control Module to enable the PTO neutral interlock at no charge. Affected owners will be notified by Navistar. Owners of recalled vehicles should contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 19518 to schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer.
