Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain 2018 and 2018-2019 C-Class and GLC-Class vehicles equipped with Audio 20 head units and automatic child seat recognition. In these vehicles, the passenger air bag status may not display correctly on the audio head unit. This means the display could incorrectly show that the passenger air bag is "ON" when it is actually not armed, potentially leaving a front seat passenger unaware that the air bag will not deploy in a crash, which increases the risk of injury.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by MBUSA, and dealers will update the audio head unit software at no charge. The recall began January 3, 2019. Affected consumers should contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 for more information, and may reference recall number 2018120009.
