Is my product affected?

2009 MAZDA MAZDA6; 2010 MAZDA MAZDA6

  • Brand MAZDA

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Mazda is recalling certain 2009-2010 Mazda6 vehicles sold or ever registered in specific northeastern and midwestern states and the District of Columbia. The front cross member of these vehicles may corrode due to road salt exposure, which can weaken the mounting point for the passenger side lower control arm. This corrosion may unexpectedly change the steering alignment and increase the risk of a crash.

Mazda began notifying owners in March 2019 and will repair affected vehicles at no cost. Dealers will either install a side member, drain hose, and protective wax coating, or install a drain hose and an improved front cross member. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 Option 4 to schedule service, referencing recall number 2818I.
