Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Volkswagen is recalling certain 2015-2018 Volkswagen Golf and Golf Sportwagen vehicles because a buildup of silicate on the shift lever micro switch contacts may allow the key to be removed from the ignition even when the shift lever is not in "Park." This creates a risk that the vehicle could roll away unintentionally if the key is removed while the shift lever is in any position other than "Park," potentially causing injury or a crash.
Volkswagen will notify owners of affected vehicles, and authorized dealers will install an additional switch and circuit board at no cost. Owners can contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 for more information about this recall, which began March 19, 2019. The recall number is 37L5.
