Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC is recalling certain 2010-2015 Jaguar XF vehicles due to a defect in the front passenger air bag inflator module. The inflators may explode during deployment in a crash, potentially sending sharp metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants and causing serious injury or death. The issue stems from propellant degradation that occurs after the inflators are exposed to humidity and temperature changes over time.
The scope of the recall varies by geographic zone based on where the vehicles were originally sold or registered. Affected owners will be notified by Jaguar, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag assembly at no cost. The recall began on June 27, 2018.
