Horizon Global — TRAILER HITCHES

Is my product affected?

REESE ELITE GOOSEBALL

  • Brand REESE

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Horizon Global is recalling certain Reese Elite Aftermarket Gooseball kits used to connect trailers to Chevrolet and GMC trucks. The kits recalled are the Hi-Rise Ball kit (part number 19315) and the GM Kit (part number 30891), which are installed under the truck bed. The load dynamics of these underbed systems may cause the trailer to separate from the gooseball connector, and if the trailer is not secured with safety chains, this could result in the trailer separating from the vehicle entirely, increasing the risk of a crash.

Horizon began notifying owners on January 10, 2019, and will work with dealers to provide reimbursement for parts purchased. Customers with affected hitches should contact Horizon customer service at 1-877-973-7871.

Details from the source

Horizon Global (Horizon) is recalling certain Reese Elite Aftermarket Gooseball kits, both the Hi-Rise Ball kit, part number 19315, and the GM Kit, part number 30891, sold for aftermarket installation on Chevrolet and GMC trucks with the factory OEM underbed package. These parts are the connector used in a gooseneck hitch to connect the towing vehicle's underbed to a trailer. The load dynamics of the underbed in these vehicles may potentially result in the trailer separating from the gooseball.
