What happened

Trimas Corporation is recalling certain Highland-brand and Reese-brand bar carriers and roof top basket carriers because they may lack proper warning labels. If these carriers are used with cargo bags, cargo baskets, cargo boxes, or rooftop accessories, the cargo could separate from the vehicle and create a road hazard that increases the risk of a crash.

To remedy this issue, Trimas will notify owners and provide revised instructions with appropriate warnings at no charge. The recall began on January 20, 2015. Affected consumers should contact Cequent Consumer Products' customer service at 1-800-234-6992.
