Federal-Mogul Motorparts LLC is recalling certain tie rod end parts sold under multiple brand names, including NAPA, AC Delco, McQuay-Norris, Raybestos, and Moog. The recalled parts have a defect in the crimped portion of the right hand outer tie rod that may loosen, causing the inner and outer portions of the assembly to separate. If this separation occurs, drivers could lose steering ability, which increases the risk of a crash.
Federal-Mogul will notify distributors, who will contact customers that purchased the affected parts. The company will replace the recalled right hand outer tie rods at no cost to vehicle owners. The crimped portion of the right hand outer tie rod replacement part may loosen allowing the inner and outer portions of the assembly to separate.
