What happened

Winnebago Industries is recalling certain 2015 BUS28WC and BUS28SH transit buses because the seating capacity as equipped could cause the vehicles to exceed their gross vehicle weight rating and/or gross axle weight rating if fully loaded. This overloading may result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicles do not comply with federal certification requirements.

Winnebago will notify owners and dealers will reduce the seating capacity of the bus at no charge. The recall began on September 13, 2017. Affected owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535.

Winnebago Industries, Inc (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2015 BUS28WC and BUS28SH transit buses. Based on the seating capacity of the vehicle as equipped, if fully loaded, the vehicles may exceed the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and/or the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) limitations indicated on the certification label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
