What happened

Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2016-2017 Dutch Star and Ventana motorhomes built between January 22, 2016, and November 7, 2016, with Cummins ISL engines on Freightliner chassis. These vehicles have a power steering hose that may be routed incorrectly, causing it to rub against the starter motor's power stud. This rubbing can cause electrical arcing and power steering fluid leaks, which creates a fire hazard.

To address this issue, Newmar will notify owners and Freightliner dealers will reroute the power steering hose to ensure proper clearance at no charge. The recall began on December 16, 2017. Affected owners should contact Freightliner customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300 (recall number 16V 809).
