What happened

Smeal is recalling certain 2015-2016 Aerial fire apparatus vehicles equipped with Class 1 Ultraview Touchscreens manufactured by Hale Products. These touchscreens may experience false switch activations that can cause accessories like emergency beacons or automatic snow chains to turn on or off without the operator's knowledge, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact Smeal customer service at 1-877-415-8628, select option 1 for Smeal, then option 4 for Direct Customer Service. Smeal will notify owners and dealers will reprogram the unit's software at no charge to fix the problem.
