What happened

Midwest Fire Equipment & Repair Company is recalling certain 2016-2017 All-Poly 2500 and 3000 series fire trucks manufactured between October 6, 2015, and April 28, 2016. These fire trucks may have C20 and C21 split-shaft transmissions from Waterous that send power to either the wheels or to add-on equipment like water pumps. A damaged component in the shift unit could prevent the operator from switching power output between these functions.

If the power output cannot be changed once a fire truck arrives at an emergency scene, the truck may not be able to pump water to fight fires, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will replace the affected clevis pin and retaining rings in the shift unit assembly at no cost to owners. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Midwest Fire customer service at 1-800-344-2059.
