What happened

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC is recalling certain Toyota vehicles from model years 1988-2012 that are equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters containing a copper strand heating element. When the seat cushion is compressed, the electrical wiring in these seat heaters may become damaged, which can cause the copper strand heating element to short circuit and increase the risk of fire.

SET will notify affected owners. Dealers will disconnect the seat heaters at no charge and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226 to arrange service for their vehicle.
