Chrysler is recalling certain 2014-2016 RAM ProMaster vehicles and 2015-2016 ProMaster City vehicles because a software error in the Trailer Tow Lighting Control Module may prevent the trailer brake lights from illuminating when brakes are applied. This defect increases the risk of a crash and fails to meet federal safety standards for lighting equipment.
To remedy this issue, Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will replace the Trailer Tow Light Control Module at no cost. The recall began on June 20, 2016. Affected consumers should contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number S22 to have the repair performed.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 RAM ProMaster vehicles manufactured July 24, 2015, to February 15, 2016, and 2015-2016 ProMaster City vehicles manufactured August 15, 2014, to February 1, 2016. The Trailer Tow Lighting Control Module may have a software error on the affected vehicles and can prevent illumination of the trailer brake lights during brake actuation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."
