What happened

Chrysler is recalling certain 2015-2016 Ram ProMaster City vans manufactured between September 26, 2014, and March 5, 2016, due to an electrical system defect. A low-voltage harness connector located near the front driver seat can experience water intrusion and corrosion, which may cause a loss of communication to the transmission control module. This defect can result in the transmission unexpectedly shifting into neutral, preventing the vehicle from moving. Additionally, if the driver turns off the engine while this occurs, the engine cannot be restarted, both of which increase crash risk.

To remedy this issue, Chrysler dealers will relocate the harness connector to under the instrument panel at no cost to owners. The recall began on June 3, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 to schedule the repair, referencing recall number S24.
