Strick Trailers, LLC is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 single axle 28 foot van trailers manufactured between July 25, 2004, and February 3, 2009, that are equipped with specific rear impact guard gussets (numbers 55997 and 555998). The rear impact guards on these trailers do not meet federal safety standards, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
To remedy this issue, Strick will notify owners and authorized service centers will install reinforcements to the rear impact guards at no cost. Owners of affected trailers should contact Strick customer service at 1-260-692-1300 for information about the recall and to arrange for the free repair.

These rear impact guard gussets could increase the chances of injury in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 223, "Rear Impact Guards."
