Is my product affected?

2009 BLUE BIRD VISION

  • Brand BLUE BIRD

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Blue Bird Body Company is recalling certain 2009 Vision transit buses manufactured between November 27, 2007, and February 18, 2008, that are equipped with Caterpillar C707 engines. In these buses, the positive starter cable may be incorrectly attached to the same power distribution stud as the battery cable, which exposes the smaller battery cable to higher current draw during engine cranking. This exposure to high current draw can cause the battery cable to overheat, melt the wire insulation, and increase the risk of a short circuit and fire.

Blue Bird will notify owners and authorize dealers to relocate the starter cable to the chassis power stud at no cost. Any damaged battery cables will also be replaced free of charge. The recall began on March 10, 2016. Owners should contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 for service or reference recall number R16YL-NSB.
