What happened

Jaguar is recalling certain 2012-2015 Jaguar XK vehicles manufactured between March 4, 2011, and March 20, 2014, because the front side lamps (parking lamps) may turn off after approximately 5 minutes of operation. When these lamps turn off, the vehicle becomes less visible to other drivers, which increases the risk of a crash. The affected vehicles do not meet federal safety standards for lighting equipment.

Jaguar will notify owners and dealers will update the software that controls the front side lamps at no charge. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827 to arrange for the software update. Jaguar's reference number for this recall is J049.
