Hino Motors is recalling certain 2012-2015 XJC and XFC vehicles manufactured between February 17, 2011, and October 31, 2014. These vehicles have a software programming issue that may prevent the brake warning lamp from illuminating when brake fluid pressure is low or brake fluid volume is insufficient. Without this warning, drivers may not realize their braking capability is reduced or lost, which increases the risk of a crash.
Hino Motors will notify owners, and authorized dealers will reprogram the ABS ECU at no charge. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9300.
