Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain 2014 GL-Class vehicles (GL350 BlueTEC 4Matic, GL450 4Matic, GL550 4Matic, and GL63 AMG models manufactured between November 4 and November 15, 2013) because the foldable second row seat bottom may not fold down far enough to allow proper use of child seat anchors. Without using the lower anchor points, a child restraint seat may not be sufficiently or properly anchored, which could increase the risk of injury to a child in a crash.
Mercedes will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will inspect the second row seat and replace the seat pan if necessary, at no cost to the owner. The recall began May 2, 2014. Owners of potentially affected vehicles should contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.
