What happened

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company is recalling certain Wild Country Radial XTX Sport 265/65R18 tires manufactured between June 1, 2014 and June 28, 2014. These tires may develop cracking and broken ply cords in the lower sidewall, which could increase the risk of a tire blowout and vehicle crash.

Cooper will notify owners of affected tires. Dealers will inspect and test the suspected tires and replace any that need replacement at no charge. Owners should contact Cooper customer service at 1-800-854-6288 to arrange an inspection, referencing recall number 159.

Hazard

If the tire experiences cracking or broken ply cords, this will increase the risk of a tire blowout and the risk of a vehicle crash.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company (Cooper) is recalling certain Wild Country Radial XTX Sport 265/65R18 tires manufactured June 1, 2014 to June 28, 2014. The affected tires may experience cracking and broken ply cords in the lower sidewall on the intended outboard side above the rim. Thus, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards No. 139, "New pneumatic radial tires for light vehicles."
