What happened

Northwood Manufacturing is recalling certain travel trailers and campers from model years 2007-2014 equipped with Fastec-brand door locks. The door lock cylinders can jam in a way that locks both the exterior deadbolt and the interior lock mechanism simultaneously, trapping anyone inside the vehicle and preventing them from exiting through the normal door. This increases the risk of injury since occupants would be forced to use an emergency exit to leave the trailer.

Northwood will notify owners of the recall, which began December 4, 2013. Fastec will coordinate inspection and replacement of the affected lock cylinders at no charge to the owner. Affected consumers should contact Northwood Manufacturing at 1-541-962-6274 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505 to arrange service.

Hazard

If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle without using the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury.

What should I do?

Northwood will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall began on December 4, 2013. Owners may contact Northwood Manufacturing at 1-541-962-6274 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.
