2012 TOYOTA YARIS
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Toyota is recalling certain 2012 Yaris vehicles manufactured between August 21, 2011, and August 31, 2011, due to a potential defect in the power steering control module. A relay within the module may experience a short circuit caused by insufficient spacing between terminals and moisture contamination of the relay coil windings. If this short circuit occurs, power steering assistance could shut off entirely, making it difficult for drivers to steer the vehicle at low speeds and potentially increasing crash risk.
Toyota will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will replace the power steering control module at no cost. The recall process began on July 31, 2013. Owners of potentially affected vehicles should contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 to confirm whether their vehicle is included in the recall and to arrange service.
