What happened

Nissan is recalling certain 2012-2013 NV vehicles equipped with steering column-mounted transmission shift levers that were manufactured between December 20, 2010, and January 4, 2013. The transmission lever gear selector plate lock clip may have been installed incorrectly in these vehicles. Due to this defect, normal road vibration can cause the gear position indicator display to not match the actual gear shift lever position, creating a hazard where the indicator may show Park while the vehicle is not properly secured in that gear, potentially allowing the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly.

This defect increases the risk of personal injury and vehicle crashes. Nissan will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will correct the installation of the transmission lever gear selector plate lock clip at no charge. The recall began on April 15, 2013. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.
