What happened

General Motors is recalling certain 2011 Chevrolet Express vehicles that were converted to run on compressed natural gas by Impco Automotive. These vehicles, manufactured between November 23, 2010 and December 23, 2010, have a four-tank configuration with a pressure relief device and vent pipe assembly that may have been improperly assembled. If the pressure relief device activates when the vent pipe is not properly assembled, compressed natural gas could be vented into the passenger compartment, which poses a fire or explosion hazard if an ignition source is present.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact General Motors at 1-800-521-7300. Impco Automotive, working with General Motors, will inspect the pressure relief device and vent pipe assembly and make any necessary repairs at no cost. The recall began on March 28, 2013.
